In the downtown core of Toronto, hidden in a great family neighbourhood of Cabbagetown. Originally established as a zoo in 1888, it was downsized to a farm in the 70's This is a wonderful place to introduce small children to a variety of farm animals poultry, waterfowl, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, donkeys, and horses.
This is my children's favorite trip. We go a few times a year. An intimate farm, just the right size for small children. My older kids still love going because of all the great memories from when they were younger. Best of all, it is free! One of Toronto's best kept secrets. A must for families with small children.
Bring your kids or borrow someone else (like a niece or nephew, that is!) and head down for an hour or so of cute animals, great home-made cookies, and a taste of old-time Canadian country life. Of course it smells a bit like a farm, but that's part of the deal and part of the charm.
