Explore Canada's largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings and take part in year-round special events on this 43-acre site..

Built in 1793, Fort York National Historic Site is the birthplace of urban Toronto. It is best known as the location where the Battle of York came to its violent climax in 1813 during the War of 1812. The Fort served as the city's primary harbour defence between the 1790s and the 1880s, and was the home of a military garrison until the 1930s.

Today, its defensive walls enclose Canada's largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings. Every year, thousands of people visit the site to explore its fascinating history and enjoy its public programs.

Fort York is one of 10 historic sites operated by the City of Toronto. Toronto's Historic Sites engage visitors, inspire passion, challenge ideas and connect the past to the present.

Great tour of Officers'Mess and kitchen, with real time cook and open fire. Good descriptions and explanations followed by visit to the soldiers quarters and finally, a short rendition by the soldiers and their instruments. Entrance prices were reasonable and value for money.

As far as National Historic Sites go in Canada, Fort York doesn't really compare. It has historical significance to Toronto, but the site itself is not very fleshed out, with a few historical items spread throughout, but nothing of much note. What the site lacks in historical content though it makes up for by creating its own. On its best... 更多

This attraction dates back to the very start of Toronto, or York. As it is a little away from stop 14 on the hop on hop off bus it feels a little forgotten. The place offers a great way to spend a couple of hours an is relatively inexpensive, or great value. I thought the place was great value and... 更多

I visited here whilst in Toronto in March 2016. It's a place that hasn't really captured my imagination on the many previous visits I've had to T.O. but I am glad that this time it did! When you first arrive it looks a little out of place, given the sprawling buildings and roads that surround the site and doesn't look... 更多

The British in the War of 1812 used cannon to repel American invaders - the modern-day guardians of the fort use massive nearby freeway construction and confusing direction signs to achieve the same effect. For those determined enough (hint: keep walking along the Fort York Boulevard until you see the entrance signs and then ignore the closed sign at the... 更多

We walked down to fort York from our hotel in downtown Toronto, we were not sure what to expect but thought we would give it a try. The site is well maintained and restored, the staff were willing to talk to you about the area or allow you to wander at your own pace. We spent the best part of... 更多

become apart of history, with demos and tours. Even in a busy modern city like Toronto you are taken back to the civil war.

This place is interesting to visit because you can relive parts of history. I visited the site several times. it is always good to see the past and reflect on the way things used to be done. The past helps us to be more grateful and prepares us for the future. We can learn from the past because it can... 更多

We have taken the tour and made several visits during performances and enjoyed it all.The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Traditional clothing. Performance in military uniforms from the period. A great place to take friends and family.

I had a vague awareness of this national site but not until an advertisement for an exhibit caught my attention, was I spurred to visit. Looking online, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of exhibit and lectures available. Fortunately, I picked a nice sunny day and it was a pleasure being outside to enjoy the site. As an adult,... 更多

在Queen Street and West Queen West的住宿

周围地区详细资料
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
