We were not sure what we would find at Ft. William, but from our being piped into the Visitors' Center by a bagpiper, to viewing the various craftsmen at their work, we enjoyed the time we spent at the park. All the interpreters were very knowledgeable and took the time to talk and explain their area of expertise. We learned... 更多
As you approach the fort you will be greeted by individuals in period costumes who will ask what you are doing there. Be prepared to have a story that you are coming to the fort, you didn't bring any supplies, I mentioned to the native we were hungry and he gave us a sample of the bread he had made.... 更多
Fort Williams is not only an incredible historical attraction, but they also have an observatory, host weddings and many day camps and programs for children and adults! We were so impressed with the care and historical accuracy of the fort. We went during the Anishnawbe Keeshigun Festival. The period actors were not only knowledgeable about their respective buildings but also... 更多
This is a wonderful place to spend the day steeped in history. Learn about the fur trade and experience it right here in Historic Fort William near Thunder Bay, Ontario. The kids will love it but so will anyone interested in history. It's very authentic.Take a lovely walk to the fort and see a lot of nature.
My wife and I enjoyed our Fort William tour immensely, the guide was very knowledgable about the period (early 19th century), his job, others jobs, and the fort. The tradesmen and cooks were also very knowledgable about their crafts and we learned quite a bit about life on the frontier. It was well worth the price of admission.
We had some time in Thunder Bay before heading on so we took the time to visit the Fort. It was a wonderful morning learning some Canadian History.
Fort William Historical Park is full of history. Authentic houses & work sites. Love the small farm & animals. Learn about first nations life & fur trade. Staff is excellent.
We toured the park with a guide and visited every building there and learned a lot! Could have spent more time there! A must see for those interested in the history aspect of the 1800's!
Going down an attractive woodland path you suddenly come upon the attraction. Much care has been taken over these buildings and it could keep a family entertained for a day.The characters in costume are anxious to entertain although their tendency to stay in character may irritate some people.
So many olde worlde places pretend to be authentic that it is actually a shock to find one that genuinely is. Really impressive old fort / village set-up, topped by staff who really strive to give the voyageur spirit. Be sure to visit the birchbark canoe crafting workshop. Really impressive. Full marks overall. Quite rare these days.
