This Church marked the last stop on the Underground Railway for slaves fleeing the US for freedom. Several plaques on site that tell the story of the slaves and how Harriet Tubman never lost a passenger.
We planned on going to this church but got lost one day and drove by it and we noticed a number of black folks and a tour bus on the side street. This was a once In a lifetime experience. Harriet Tubman attended Salem Chapel and the church has a lot of the original items from the time when Harriet attended the church. The church as the original pews still in the church. They have a lot of artifacts on display. They offer a tour by appointment only. Today the church still... 更多
If possible, try to make arrangements for a tour otherwise you will probably only get to see the outside of the building. The tour was obviously passionate about the church and its history and had vast knowledge of it. I am so glad we got to see this place.
Great for historical buffs! But interesting for the whole family as well! Don't forget to put this on your list of places to visit in Niagara!

I have attended this church and have partaken in evening dinners. The people are a delight and have interesting stories.
