Spent three days in town for a family funeral but managed to spend time at the rowing events. All sorts of young people and judges from out of town at this high profile event. In fact the majority of hotel/motel rooms were booked because of this competition. There is a strong history within this town of such vents and one... 更多
This afternoon I had the pleasure of cruising on The Trent Severn Waterway and going through the world's highest lift lock. It was truly amazing and our captain, Jody, was both very entertaining and informative. It helped that the sun was shining bright
Captain Jody did a fine job, with lots of humour, of detailing the boat cruise through a regular lock and the lift lock. The cruise was about two hours .....popcorn, snacks and beverages, including alcoholic drinks are available on board. Our was just a sightseeing tour but they have dinner cruises available as well. Discount for seniors. Glad we went.
Although it was such a nice experience for cruising on the boat going thru the liftlock. It was too hot while it took long the go thru the lock. Since we need to wait for few boat entering the lock together.. Waited for the water falling thru.. During while period, I was sweating crazily!! I think once in life is... 更多
Captain Jody was full of stories and interesting factoids about the waterway, the locks, the fountain, the buildings, and the history. We quite enjoyed his narration of the tour. Before getting on the boat, I had no idea how a lift lock worked, and to experience it from the water was quite fun. The next day we visited the Parks... 更多
quite a unique piece of engineering. The visitor info center provides a peek into the history of the place with samples of pictures and other items. You walk out really appreciating the amount of work involved in building this lift. Remember we are talking about the late 1890s.
The boat trip is a casual, pleasant way to fully experience the lift lock, a more regular lock and swing bridge-all within a short boat drive. Learned lots of facts about the various locks on the Trent Severn waterway and about Peterborough from the knowledgeable and very entertaining guide, Jody. Would recommend this excursion for visitors and those who live... 更多
We have organized this educational and bonding trip from Toronto with our grand kids. The captain and tour guide has a ton of interesting things to say which some time are too much to comprehend and specially for kids. I think that less facts presentation will do a better job. It was exciting to visit the locks and learn about... 更多
Rented did the Saturday evening dinner cruise down the Ottonabee River and highly recommend it. This is a great night out as a date or as a group activity. You have to pre-book, cost is $60 a person and includes dinner, dessert, tea and coffee. Alcoholic beverages are available but not included. We boarded at lock 19 (just below Lansdowne... 更多
