The reenactors really make this worth while. The fort is large and interesting on its own with a nicely done exhibit on the War of 1812 as well as walk through buildings staged as they were during the period. But the history comes to life through the reenactors from the fife and drums and flag raising to the lesson on... 更多
My father was excited to see this old fort. It was well run by people representing the time of the was of 1812 who gave us information at some of the buildings on site. This is an interesting place for the whole family if your into history. Paid parking and plenty of it. You can walk to town from here.
Such a wonderfully historic fort that is very "hands" on, staffed by knowledgeable individuals. We were there for just over 3 hrs and had such a great time seeing everything from the housing for enlisted men and officers. Learning about the war of 1812, history of the region and the Military's part in it, just everything! If you like Historic... 更多
We were there on Canada Day, so lots was going on. It was a nice step back to a simpler time. The reconstruction there is amazingly well done, and the docents were very engaging. Worth the stop.
I am impressed, we spent a couple of hours taking in the feel of the place and I was really impressed with the uni students talking about the history of the place and their roles. It was very hot in the sun and they carried on regardless. Worth the time and effort to visit and be entertained
Great set up of the very strategic Fort for the British and part of the 1812 War ....The reenactment of soldiers drilling in uniforms of the times, as well as documented history is very well done. Well worth a stop and visit !
This is a place that you can easily spend about 4-5 hours exploring. A large portion is really self guided, but there are good displays of rifle firing, the barracks, kitchens, etc… The location of the armory and how it is built is interesting. The views from the ramparts are great and on a clear day you can see Toronto.... 更多
I'm not a total museum type person, but I like to make some room for something of the sort when I visit a place filled with history. This was near where we stayed, so it was easy enough to get to for us. Actually on the main road through town, so easy enough for everyone! Many of the staff are... 更多
This is the actual spot of one of the battles during the war of 1812, and the battles get re-enacted on a regular basis. Musical entertainment includes traditional pipes and drums. Everyone is dressed in character costumes. Great fun for the entire family. Long weekend fireworks displays are fantastic.
