I've been touring the Halifax area for almost 2 weeks now and Lunenburg (the town where the blue nose II is located) is the most beautiful place I've visited. It features bright colourful houses, a variety of restaurants and lots of sail boats. It was absolutely beautiful, we did not want to leave. The bluenose itself is very cool to... 更多
Enjoyed seeing the replica of the famous tall masted Bluenose as it departed from Lunenberg dock. Its sails every 3 hours so you can see it under power or sail if you time it right. You need to book months in advance if you want to take the cruise, but check at the dock as they sometimes have cancelations or... 更多
We were lucky enough to be in Lunenburg for the first sailing of the season and on a very windy day. This is an experience not to be missed. Watching the professionalism of the crew as they put up and take down the sails is awe inspiring. When not taking care of their duties the crew mingle with the passengers... 更多
Now, I'm not a sailor. I don't live near a harbour (actually I do, but we don't have anything like this in the Hammer), and I don't know the original Bluenose. But as a tourist, visiting Halifax for the first time (she was docked there) I have to say sailing on the Bluenose II was a highlight of my trip.... 更多
Basically, it's an old boat that is on my $0.10 cent dime (Cdn money). Either this one is or the original boat. Again, I've heard about it my whole life so I had to see it. I found it more interesting that they were loading fish right off the boat into a tractor trailer down the wharf.
This place had a "special" the late afternoon when we were there: a complete large lobster with all the sides for only $19.99 Canadian. The lobster chowder was great!
We got shipped here by the concierge of a nearby hotel. Its a fairly standard mid-city diner. Seems to attract locals. Its a dated interior and the food was mediocre. I wouldn't wander back but... it the old diners appeal... hey, this is your place.
Beautiful ship! Unfortunately, we weren't able to go on board as they were painting and varnishing it, which was interesting to observe. Very impressive to see up close.
The whole family was amazed to jump aboard the Bluenose II and walk all over its deck. Such a great activity for tourists walking along the harbour. And on the boat there are guides who answer any questions you may have and share in the excitement.
