It's great to have a large open space in the middle of a city. Good try with this square but it needs a bit of soul. The Sunday we visited it was dead. No people, just some empty white tents. Would be great to see vendors, food booths, buskers etc but maybe they're not there because no one goes.... is... 更多
The Street Performers and Taste of Edmonton are two of the city's biggest events through the summer and both are played host to by Sir Winston Churchill Square. The square also came alive for Red Bulls Crashed Ice as well and, Movies in the Square gets a good crowd as well (a giant screen is put up & family-friendly movies... 更多
Barren, usually empty ( for good reason) and unattractive. With the exception of the occasional summer festival this is a monument to bad planning. There is nothing to attract me with the exception of the of the food festival, otherwise this is a desolate empty concrete island that bakes in the summer and freezes in the winter.
While it was February and the weather was unusually warm, Churchill Park did nothing for me during the day light hours, however at night it transforms itself into an oasis of sorts with the lights of city hall to one side, the eerily lit modern art gallery on a far corner, Edmonton Centre, the Winspear Centre and the Library on... 更多
In July, August this is the place to be, the wading pool at city hall is across the street. Most of all the festivals use this venue in the summer. Street performers, Taste of Edmonton to name a few.
It is a big open space in front of the City Hall. I am sure it is great for events, however when we were there nothing was going on. It was just cement. It is well lit, clean (can say that for Edmonton overall) and you feel safe no matter where you go.
What makes this place special, it is not the same that would make squares in East Canada or in Europe! It is a modern square where they host many different events during the year. During the winter for example, you can skate in the free area or get marshmallows and wamp with a free chocolate close to the fireplace. A... 更多
It is certainly the heart of Edmonton's downtown, what with a number of events taking place there during the year - from Chinese New Year to Nuit Blanche and the Taste of Edmonton, to name a few. The place itself is fairly bland, with a lot of concrete and just a couple of trees and stairs around it, so it's... 更多
We live in Edmonton over 30 years ago, so it was nice to visit a bit of our past - check out the history of the city and stop to relax
