Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site was the home of the first Premier of Alberta, Alexander Cameron Rutherford. In 1911, A.C. Rutherford, his wife Mattie and their family moved into this beautiful brick mansion near the university campus. The family entertained friends, relatives and influential Edmontonians for more than a generation. Today, this restored and furnished Edwardian-era home maintains the Rutherford tradition of hospitality and offers visitors a glimpse into the past with costumed interpreters, guided tours and special events.

Great find on a Sunday in Edmonton. The tour is informative and takes you through the various rooms each with their own stories. The building is well maintained as are the grounds. Be aware that tours are not offered everyday so check website before heading out.

Well just over 10 years ago my wife and I got married and Rutherford was the place we picked for our wedding photos. The staff were great and I'd recommend it to anyone. But first stop by for afternoon tea, that'll put you in the mood.

The tour guide was wonderful in her knowledge of the house, the family. And Alberta history more broadly. It was a gem on the U of A campus.

It was a delight and privilege to be at this well-preserved example of a home from the early 20th century. We had a personalized tour and the fellow was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and occupants. It was enlightening to find out about the impact made on education in Alberta by Mr. Rutherford.

When Alberta's First Premier chose to build his home on the south side of the river in 1911 so he could see across to the legislative building, the trees weren't tall enough to block the valley view, or his neighbours. That might be the most striking change to the beautifully restored and preserved brick mansion of A. C. Rutherford on... 更多

Pretty cool place to visit, the house is old and unique and perfectly restored, the guides give a nice story of the original owners, and the original clothing an effects are in the house. Very cool for history buffs.

This is one of Alberta's historical gems. It is historical from a political perspective as well as private life of one of the most influential people of our province. The house is furnished with period pieces and has been beautifully maintained. Allow at least an hour to tour the house and small grounds.

Get the guided tour. It is more than getting to know about a building. It is a history lesson told in the context of the lives and times of the first Premier of Alberta and his wife and children. Also get to know a little about their housekeepers. The times dictate you know a bit about WWI and its impact... 更多

We have gone for High Tea three different times. Each time we have encountered ages form the Senior to the little girls dressed in their frilly dresses, to families with their teenagers in hats, gloves and pearls. Three us us went for my 60 th birthday, on a warm sunny day in July. Yes we did have on our hats, gloves... 更多
