This is not a Cathedral but a large Catholic parish church.
We attended 10 am Mass; clearly a "children's Mass" with lots of attention to the younger people present. Lively music with most of the mass done in Spanish. One reading is in English but they provide a test of all the prayers and readings in both languages.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. So many pink and white carnations on the altar, pillars, and every area in between. We were given the readings and responses in English, in a pamphlet, when we entered - very helpful to follow along. Went to confession - bilingual priest, very compassionate! Absolutely loved everything about his holy place.
The priest talked very fast, some pews didn't have kneelers, but as an American who didn't know Spanish, I did a good job of keeping up with the Mass. Very spiritual, beautiful. I am so glad that being Catholic, this was my church, even though I live in Missouri.
The picture of the yellow washed building is correct while the large red cathedral does not exist on the island. This Catholic Church is quite beautiful with nice Carribean touches such as the shell shaped Holy Water containers. I speak Spanish, and I have attended mass at this church for the experience. I like the place. It is the real town of Cozumel and a great place to meet local people.
