This part of the Chichen Itza tour... its amazing, the ruins should be gone by now, but still standing and so interesting. Its a little extra walk to see it, but you must do it!!
The temple of warriors is located on the main complex of Chichen Itza. It's on the north east side. The large temple has loads of columns hence also known as Plaza of a thousand columns. There is a reclined warrior on the top(chac mool). Can spend hours admiring the various structures.
Fascinating architecture with various design elements all put together. There are square columns on the left (when facing the temple) and many, many round columns/pillars to the right. Temple is quite far if taken from cozumel approximately 2 hours. Temple is quite unique and there's nothing too special. We have to pay cost US $ 5 for each camera that we carry either regular cameras or mobile phones. For whatever reason I think it is quite exaggerated. The columns in the front are warriors based on the carvings and at the top, there appears to be an alter to receive items or blessings. This is part of the overall Chichen Itza Mayan ruins. Go over by the 1000 columns and see the ruin from a "back" perspective to get a better impression of its massive-ness and structure.
If you get an opportunity - try to listen to the tour guide. It's interesting to know that the winner of the war actually surrender himself to be killed. Enjoy the view.
