I have visited this shop each time in Oaxaca for the past few years. It is quite small but always stocks a few new things that are intriguing. It specializes in small, quirky artisan items.
This colorful and inspiring shop set the standards high for me in regards to quality and craftsmanship of Oaxacan folk art. Definitely a great place to pick up something very special!
I visited this shop back in 1996 and the fact that it's still going strong 20 years later is a testament to its quality. It's a great shop - cheerful, well-stocked... almost like to to the MAP store in Mexico City. They've done a nice job curating what they sell. A great place to check out in Oaxaca!
I really enjoyed the hot chocolate...and I was on a quest to find the most tasty chocolate in Oaxaca. I tried the 70 percent pure cacao, with minimal sugar, which was delicious. I appreciated that I was able to custom make my chocolate. The ambience is relaxed and the service was friendly.
Wonderful varieties of Oaxacan chocolate and coffee, a good beer selection, local folk music performances and work by local artists, and they take credit cards too if you're short on pesos.
Amazing to see the work of these artisans. You can bring your own design and they will do the design for you. Amazing way of knitting with wooden machinery.
I have been to Oaxaca three times over the past 6 years and always make this a first stop to see what the artists are doing now...printmakers, weavers, etc. It gives me an idea of what retail prices are if I have a chance to go to individual studios or to the art markets...and honestly I have purchased things here.... 更多
Some of the most beautiful tapetes here are more works of art than rugs. The store has a range of Mexican folk items, like alebrijes and day of the dead figures, but the real finds are among the original art prints by current Oaxacan artists
