Gerardo collected us from our hotel to take us to the market to buy the ingredients for our menu. No idea what this market is called but it is a fascinating destination in it's own right. HUGE - with everything imaginable on display. Fantastic to watch the stall holders preparing their products - dough for tortillas, chocolate, everything! Not just... 更多

I did this cooking class with my mother and there was also another group of four women who were in our class. The visit to the market was great, lots of explanations and itset the day up well for what we were about to cook. From there, however, we were left disappointed with the lack of hands on cooking we,... 更多

Geraldo took us to the market and pick some ingredients. It was nice learning how to cook local cuisine!

Wonderful hands-on experience. Starts in the market buying ingredients and interacting with the vendors. Chef Geraldo explains Oaxacan cuisine, the textures, tastes, and aromas, and gives a cooking class in a home setting. Relaxing day of cooking mole and chiles rellenos and savoring an exceptional Oaxacan meal.

Mexican cuisine is quite varied regionally because the country is very large. Regions have different produce, use different ingredients and are culturally and historicaly diverse (which in culinary matters translates into different techniques for preparing food, honoring certain holidays or special ocassions with particular dishes, and so on). Dont expect the food of the North (with desert like climate, relatively... 更多

A great experience that taught us a lot about the local cuisine. The instructor is an excellent chef who picked dishes to help us learn about the food in Oaxaca. So glad we went!

Mexico's richness is revealed amongst other things, in its food. The Oaxacan food is one of the most well-kept treasures of the Mexican gastronomy, thanks to which Mexican food has been acknowledged as intangible world heritage by Unesco.

This is the one you want to go to. Visit a local market to get the ingredients, then go to Gerardo's home to prepare a delicious lunch while his mother and a cousin help with the prep. All I can do is make a TV dinner, but I enjoyed the experience! You don't have to know hot to cook to... 更多

We felt so fortunate to find Gerardo and his cooking school, La Cocina Oaxaquena. He picked us up at our hotel at 9am, drove us to a market that the locals shop and so patiently explained all the herbs and chilies, where they come from, how they are used and experience purchasing each ingredient from individual vendors. He then drove... 更多

Gerardo was very patient and talented. His recipies were delicious; vine soup with squash blossoms, stuffed chilies, and handmade torillas. Very nice way to spend the morning and see his beautiful kitchen and a new market.
