If you are interested in churches, do not miss Valenciana. I would strongly suggest hiring a local guide to explain the history and the intricacies (available at the entrance) - a tour takes about 30 minutes.
After we had been the the Silver Mine down the road..we come upon this gorgeous Temple.. Three humongous Gold leaf alters.. Take the time out of a busy day touring the rest our this gorgeous town..of Guanajuato..and spend some quiet time in the Templo La Valenciana..
The over the top ornate interior turns me off, but many people love this style. If you are a fan of the style, you will probably love. It's a short taxi ride. It you go to the mine, check it out (you are right there). We found it easy to get a taxi back.
This place has an incredible European architecture. Everything is made of gold in the inside. The outside little plaza the street that take to the mines are all made of cobbled. Takes you back to some colonial European city outside of Europe. This Mexican city is just gorgeous.
