You can't understand the history and meaning of Guanajuato if you don't visit a mine. The city was built with and for the gold and silver mines. Listening to the local guides, you finally understand the work procedures and the miserable conditions of the miners, all of them indigenous. I'm sure my kids will remember this experience.
We had a group tour down the mines. Well done with dioramas that depicted various aspects of mining as well as a map that showed the various nooks and crannies of the mines. The tour allowed us to go down one of the mine entrances for about 60 meters - note that there are lots of stairs so it's not... 更多
We had the best tour guide..He was so enthusiastic about the mine..that he had once worked in.. Unfortunately we did not actually understand him...as we do not speak Spanish..( we were with a Mexican friend of ours..who translated for him ).. You could feel the emotions & feeling of our guide..without understanding him.. Very interesting...and learning of about the history... 更多

Hard to imagine these ppl, working just to die. We buy silver today, but to know then how it was located, retrieved, by blood, sweat, death, treated lower than the dust. Such an interesting place..it's a mine, so where good shoes, hold on to the rope, bring your flash on camera, you will step way down into the earth, you... 更多
Though our guide did not speak English, he was clear in Spanish and we were able to understand everything. Worth the small cost to visit
The tour of this important mine is in Spanish. But the cost is modest and it is the only way to enter the mine. The city is ringed by mines; most are closed. The guide may very well have explained the challenge of going down, but no one in my party had enough Spanish to understand. One member of the... 更多
It was a nice place with some hystorical remarks. One doesn't really enter into the mine, but you get some information of how the process was done in the las 400 years.
