I was very excited to explore some of the mines around Guanajuato, and the first one visited was Mina La Valenciana. For some reason, I expected more and felt a little disappointed how short the tour was and that there was not a whole lot to see. My guide only spoke Spanish, so I did not understand a lot of... 更多
The tour takes you down into a mine -- but remember, every step down you have to take back up. It was an exhausting, painful journey. At the end? A cheesy photo op. No lessons about mining or history of mining. Just walking down for a photo op. The basillica next to it is plain, but relaxing, and the views... 更多
When I say deep I mean that literally as one descends 300 feet deep into the mines via a series of staircases. Our guide was a former miner and I learned a lot from him. (I speak spanish and have no idea if he can speak English.) The guide spoke about silver and other minerals, how they were mined how... 更多
Very interesting and worth the visit if you know Spanish. Much insight into how the mines work and there are models to see before you go into the mine shaft. About an hour for visit if you want to stop in the store after. Don't miss when you visit the Templo Valenciana!
You can't understand the history and meaning of Guanajuato if you don't visit a mine. The city was built with and for the gold and silver mines. Listening to the local guides, you finally understand the work procedures and the miserable conditions of the miners, all of them indigenous. I'm sure my kids will remember this experience.
We had a group tour down the mines. Well done with dioramas that depicted various aspects of mining as well as a map that showed the various nooks and crannies of the mines. The tour allowed us to go down one of the mine entrances for about 60 meters - note that there are lots of stairs so it's not... 更多
We had the best tour guide..He was so enthusiastic about the mine..that he had once worked in.. Unfortunately we did not actually understand him...as we do not speak Spanish..( we were with a Mexican friend of ours..who translated for him ).. You could feel the emotions & feeling of our guide..without understanding him.. Very interesting...and learning of about the history... 更多
I give it two stars because they location was very beautiful and people were nice but there was nothing much to see they walked you down 60+ stairs and took you to the bottom where there was a mining cart and that was the entire tour so wasn't much to do if short on time I recommend doing something else... 更多
Hard to imagine these ppl, working just to die. We buy silver today, but to know then how it was located, retrieved, by blood, sweat, death, treated lower than the dust. Such an interesting place..it's a mine, so where good shoes, hold on to the rope, bring your flash on camera, you will step way down into the earth, you... 更多
