A relaxing and worthwhile way to spend half a day, especially morning before it gets too hot....the boatman points out in Englisht the wildlife that he spots along the way. Not a lot of different birds this year, but lots of crocs and turtles in their natural habitat!

When visiting in the San Blas, it is highly advisable to take a boat ride through the estuary and mango swamps just south of town at La Tovara. We saw many species of herons and other water birds. Potoos and Pauraque were common. Plenty of falcons and hawks including Snail Kite and Laughing Falcon. If you are a birder, this is the trip for you.
It was recommended that we take an early morning boat trip back into the waters of the San Blas River and explore the birding opportunities. We were also told of the crocodiles and other natural wonders. Our pictures will never let us forget the beauty.
