Best experience the 2 full day in mazatlan. I must say though, there is a sewage plant right next to the hike and the smell was....well, need i say more, but the weather was nice and there was breeze. I just wish the breeze was blowing in the other direction. But don't let that keep you from experiencing this nice... 更多
We grabbed the South Central bus to here and got off at the guard station at the Marina. It wil be about a twenty minute walk to the base of the mountain. And depending on your skill level, about 30-45 minute walk up to the light house. The set of concrete stairs will start about 3/4 of the way up.... 更多
A trip to El Faro is for those willing and able to make a stiff climb. If you book it as part of a tour, understand that you are dropped at the bottom of the hill and pointed at the path. A cab ride from the cruise terminal to El Faro's path is about $5. The first half of the... 更多
My hubby and I walked from our hotel to the lighthouse: it was hot and tiring. It is a good view, but hubby had a stomach ailment which made it more challenging. I liked the little altar in the small shop at the top. Some elites were jogging up, so it can be a workout if you want that.
Wear good shoes, no flip flops etc. it's a good climb, take one or two bottles of water and your camera. For the first half of the hike it is just a rough, broken pathway and then out of nowhere, cement steps appear and from there, you have approximately 356 more steps. They are uneven and badly spaced. But... It... 更多
I'll admit, my wife and I aren't in great shape which made it even more rewarding when we got to the top. Be sure to bring lots of water for the walk up, be prepared for the horrible smell at the bottom, don't forget your camera, and make sure you have a way to get "home" when you get back... 更多
This is not for the out of shape. It is a very, and I mean very, long hike almost straight up hill to the lighthouse. Steeps make it easier the second half of the hike. Go early morning or as the sun is going down. Very hot but what a view of the entire city all the way up the... 更多
The Sabalo Centro bus will drop you off at the start of the seawall and causeway connecting Old Mazatlan to the island where El Faro is. As you walk to the end of the causeway you will be pummeled with the foul stench of the Mazatlan sewage plant. You need to hold your breath as you walk at least one... 更多
Nice hike and great views from the 2nd tallest active lighthouse int he world. Don't let the entrance scare you away (some sort of waste treatment plant at the bottom of the hike) :)
Depending on your fitness level this may or may not be a tough climb. Try it. Rest up as you go if necessary. View is grrreat and good sense of doing something physical.
Great views, Good challenge! Plan to take a couple of hours if pausing for photos, time at the top, - back to bus etc.( one way hike for most probably 30 mins give or take. This is a working lighthouse- many seniors and teenagers on the trail the day I went. Wear good walking shoes - tennis or runners. Hike... 更多
