if you have an interest in the history of the southwest native cultures then this place iis for you. they have an excellent museum that tells the story of these early peoples of northern Mexico. The drive is nice you pass Janos and old abandoned church on Mexico highway 2. There is a military stop but they do not bother you. Going to Nuevo Casas Grandes must have a permit from the mexican authorities from the Km 30. Usually the registration and a $200-$300 deposit plus the fees. Kinda boring and unimpressive. Like the photo shows, they are just "stumps" of former walls. If you got nothing better to do, then go visit it. I recommend you find something better to do.
