Just a few blocks off of the Malecon sits the historic Catedral de Nuestra Señora de La Paz. Old structure, was built from 1861-1865. Very nice inside. Catholic church is a quiet place out get out of the heat. Right next to Jardín Velasco, a nice one block park.

The Cathedral is constructed of stone of a pale purple - mauve - which gives the building an unusual pleasant appearance.
