Just visited to go to a beach, then discovered it was national trust site (always a good sign you may have hit something special), then after walking against the wind for a while found an amazing site that was once used during ww2. Really enjoyed this walk not easy to climb up but plenty of vantage spots to take a breather.Rabbits and mountain goats could be seen when I went.The napolenuc fort well worth a look lots to explore and information boards help to bring this old fort to life.Brean beach is a lovely place for a romantic walk for two!
A National Trust property at the end of the Mendips. There is a good and welcoming cafe by the car park. There is a climb to get to the top of the peninsula but once you get there the views over the Bristol Channel are amazing as are the views inland. This is a National trust with a very good cafe and ample parking. You can either go up the steps to the mound or go up a steep road. The views from the top are spectacular. A 3 mile circular. At the end of the mound is this lovely old fort in pretty good condition giving you all the information... 更多
Loved it here! Well worth the car parking. There was a lot of steps but also a steep road you could take to avoid steps. I think if you had mobility issues then the national trust take you up in a little van. But it's well worth the walk and the views are lovely some interesting art exhibitions when we... 更多
We have recently have visited brean sands again I reveiwed pontins last year and did not rate it highly at all but this year they have made some improvements the Chalets have been referb and are more comfortable now the site is kept clean and tidy brean is very family friendly place plenty of things for children to do. Have lived in Bristol for nearly 30years and didn't realise this was so historical. A steep walk up some steps or a more gradual walk from a pathway that's not so challenging. Make sure you have good walking shoes on & plenty of water as it's quite a walk. Worth the challenge to reach the historical gems at the end... 更多
