we walked from salt pond--it too QUITE a while and very hilly. Be prepared with lots of water/snacks if you are planning to hike in. Most others at the beach drove jeeps to get there, seemed a lot easier, but the roads are rough for sure. definitely some off-roading. But upon arrival, it was very nice. pretty quiet, not crowded.... 更多
This beach is at the end of the road past Salt Pond. Actually it turns into a dirt road which may be impassable after rains in a standard car. We've made it in without high clearance or 4 wheel drive. The beach is great, and uncrowded. There is some great beginning snorkeling around the rocks off shore. Stronger snorkelers can... 更多
After reading the guidebook which describes the one mile drive off 107 as steep, rough, and not recommended by car rental companies we almost didn't go which would have been a huge loss. So, we loaded our snorkel gear into our Sport Wrangler, drove the 4.6 miles from Coral Bay and headed onto the rough road. They've paved the steep... 更多
Great Lameshur Bay which is next to Little Lameshur Bay has a rocky beach instead of a sandy one, but the benefit for snorkelers who can swim past the first bend on the left is worth the trip. You'll likely be the only people parked there and in the water, but if you want to see some of the best... 更多
Hard to get to but worth the effort. When you are on the Coral Bay side of the island, just follow the main road till it ends....past the Tourist Trap, past Salt Pond to the end of the paved road......and then the fun starts. The road is bumpy, then cement, then bumpy then curvy and steep and cement and then... 更多
We braved the long, unpaved journey into Little Lameshur. We had rented two jeeps while staying in St John (a MUST while staying in St John, Taxis just don't cut it). We bumped and jerked our way into the beach. There were 2 children (1 & 4) and 6 adults. Most of us were there primarily to snorkel. My 4... 更多
If you are uncomfortable driving on St. John, this will test you. But trust me, the drive is worth it. Lameshur offers a great snorkel, tons of hiking opportunities, and some of the best photo opportunities on island.
leads to wonders. Going clockwise around St. John from Cruz Bay or even Rendezvous, Little Lameshur Bay is almost all the way around the dial. The end of the end of the road. The road is rough (so drive slow). The drive is a good 30min from Cruz Bay (island time, mon). But once you arrive, you typically have a... 更多
