There's lots of great snorkeling on St. John and yes Trunk Bay is great (always worth a visit and the beach itself the greatest) but my family and I fell in love with Hawksnest. Nice beach and the snorkeling is amazing! Don't need to go far out and in fact some of the most shallow areas offer an amazing world... 更多
There are bathrooms so that's a plus and it is free to get in. The only thing is the beach is not that long so when it gets crowded you'll feel it. Great snorkeling here also. No food or beverage so make sure you bring stuff with you..
Hawksnest is a beautiful - serene beach - surrounded by rocks and national parks. The water is crystal clear, warm, full of coral and gorgeous fish. You can also spot sea turtles here.
This beach is very nice but got way too busy in the afternoon. It can be nice at sunset, but sun doesn't set over water, it's behind the island mountains (as seems to be the case at all public beaches this time of year).
My family loved this beach. There was good snorkeling and the water was really calm so it was perfect for just relaxing and hanging out. There were also rocks that we enjoyed climbing on.
Hawk's Nest beach is (going clockwise on the island from the ferries) shortly after Caneel. Positives: 1. The softest sand 2. The water depth is perfect for a person who is just learning how to snorkel. Much of the area is knee deep or less. The water is very calm and relaxing. 3. Covered picnic table area near the restrooms.... 更多
We picked this beach because my elderly mother has mobility issues and it was the shortest walk and shortest beach we could find. When I say short, I am referring to how far you have to walk on the sand before you get in the water and I would guess that to be about 30-40 feet. There was no charge... 更多
Park your car and you are at the beach. Narrow beach, good spots to snorkel very close to shore. Parking is limited and there are no services at the beach. Great place to meet locals.
This spot may not be as nice as truck bay, but it offers great sand, no rocks and good snorkeling with lower volume of people. I arrive at 9:30 on a Tuesday and was the only person on the entire beach. Parking is good here and there are no facilities. Its free to the publish and has decent shade (not... 更多
Hawksnest beach has a long beach with facilities and picnic tables. It has both sand bottom and coral to accommodate those who want to snorkel or just play in the water. The coral runs from very shallow near the beach to approximately 15 - 20 feet. Lots of fish with elk horn coral and other types of coral. I have... 更多
