We love learning about the places we visit. We took the National Park Guided trip on Reef Bay (make reservations in advance - we lucked out and got 3 spaces at last minute - but it was off season). This hike is bout 2.5 miles and fairly steep in places. Bring water. It is hot. The Park Guide stops often... 更多
This trail is not an easy one to hike back up from the Reef Bay and Sugar Mill ruins at the bottom. Be prepared for at least 2 1/2 hours and take some water in a small backpack. It is truly a beautiful hike with alot of markers explaining the vegetation. The Reef Bay once you get to the bottom... 更多
We walked down to the Petroglyphs, hot and humid, not too bad on the way down, really rough coming back up. I recommend the hike with the park ranger where they get you with a boat for the ride back. Not fun coming up, do it when it is cooler in the morning. Neat to see the Petroglyphs up close.
I love this hike. Along with the beaches, it is for a me a defining memory of St. John. It's a small bonus that it's the closest thing I get to exercise when I'm hear, too :-) We did the hike this year with myself, my wife and my three kids, ages 10, 7 and 7. It's a hard hike... 更多
If you come to the Virgin Islands you have to do this. One with nature. Bring water, comfortable shoes and high energy snack and you are good to go. If want a wholesome experience, book the trip with the National Park. You will be educated and above all you will not have to hike back up. A boat will take... 更多
You need reservations, made through the National Park headquarters in Cruz Bay. $40/ person. This I s a long hike, all down hill. Bused from the Park Headquarters. The Ranger guide provided interesting and detailed descriptions of the trees, animals and ruins. And helped us avoid the wasp nests on the trail. The trip includes a short side venture to... 更多
We did the ranger-guided hike, which is well worth the money. They drive you to the top of the trail, and then you hike the several miles all downhill, then they pick you up in a boat at the bottom to bring you back. The trail itself is amazing, you're nearly all the time out of the sun, under the... 更多
Great hike. we went down and back. Make sure you have plenty of water, good shoes and snacks. The bay is a bit rock too so water shoes would be helpful.
This is one of the few hikes on the island that aren't along the coast. It is downhill the whole way out and uphill the whole way back. It's not too steep or difficult, but it will take a bit longer coming back. There are a lot of ruins of old structures as well as some petroglyphs on a short... 更多
