We took the Road Town Fast ferry from St. Thomas to Tortola and back. On the way over, we took the BVI Patriot, which was air conditioned. Everything including the kitchen sink (literally) was being hauled over with us (including live chicks). The boat was not clean, but fast and uncrowded. The return trip was worse, we were onboard the... 更多
A great way to get to Tortola. The service was good, and the trip was fast and reasonably priced. We were en route to Tortolla to pick up a bareboat for travel around the islands.
The ferries are a cheap , fun and easy way to island hop. Use Inter Island or Road town fast ferry. "Native Son" counter person was nothing less than rude and uninformative. And like many other posts, "BEWARE" the fast talking BAGMAN
So the boat is big so you have lots of passengers to fight for seats, and to get on and off. The last boat arrives at 4 or 5 pm to Tortola. Two other ferries arrive just before you, 2 customs officers manually process everyone. It took over 2 hours and that is normal. On the way back to St... 更多
I booked and prepaid two one-way tickets to Road Town. Upon arrival, one attendant took my information and passed it to another attendant (who was playing games on her cell phone). She then informed me that I owed the price for 2 tickets, a port service fee, and baggage fee. Port service fees and baggage fees are not discussed anywhere... 更多
The fast ferry is pretty good but the people running the counter as just awful. We had no idea what to do so I had alot of questions. We were there at 7:00am when they opened.. Sorry you have to wait... while they swept floor, cleaned counter and chatted. Very rude. As far as customs they could have given us... 更多
The Ferry trip itself is pretty good. Now, the torture. US Customs keeping you waiting to enter St. Thomas. It pretty much can make you go postal. Its as if they are saying, don't come back this way again.
Whenever we are going to the BVI we use Road Town Fast Ferry. We've traveled on this ferry at least a dozen times. They are punctual and efficient. They offer beverages and food for sale when underway. The trip from USVI to BVI takes about 45 minutes---very fast.
I made a reservation from one company online, ends up there are 4 but only one seem to run each day and honor the others reservations, although where I was going, I didn't get to the right side of the island, so I had to taxi and pay outrageously to make up for the ferry only going to one port... 更多
