St. Thomas is pretty developed, with many beautiful places that you can expect to share with a number of fellow travelers. The trip to Mermaid's Chair is well worth it for those looking to visit a rugged and isolated part of the island. It's a long drive to this part of the island. You must park your car outside the... 更多
It is an exhausting hike, there are no bathrooms or water. The tide was up and there was very little to see. Bugs were extremely bad. Very isolated with no cell phone coverage. Not worth it!
No bathrooms, this is a small strip of beach that is rocky and not easy to get to! Even for an expierenced hiker the hike back up is tough! With all the beautiful beaches on this island why would you want to go here? It took all day, and we were so dissapointed with the expierence! Not worth it! !!!!
The walk to the Mermaid's Chair is not that strenuous. The walk back is all uphill, but if you take your time, it is manageable. Make sure you are covered from the hot sun off the cement road. Mermaid's Chair is beautiful and serene. We walked over the isthmus where the Atlantic and Caribbean "meet" to what is called "Little... 更多
A must must must see! A bit of a hike (all downhill there, some rocky trails to the pools, and all uphill back) but sooooo worth it! Make sure you don't stop at the first strip of sand in between - keep hiking around to the trail so you get to the pools. I've never seen two bodies of water... 更多

Three wonderful fellow travelers and hostel mates convinced me of how much I'd regret not going, so climb I did. Everything I had read was true. The trip down was about a mile and a half... 更多
This is a very isolated walk and I did not feel safe. There are no toilets and its quite a hard hike back up to the road (1.5 miles). We stopped on the beach to use the nice picnic table but were told in no uncertain terms by "the owner" that this was private property (there are signs but hey... 更多
The view and scenery from Mermaid's Chair makes the hike back all worth it. Make sure to have some water with you. If you go to the other side of Mermaid's Chair and cross a small channel (about ankle deep) there is a tide pool you can sit in and lots of good picture taking opportunities with the Atlantic ocean... 更多
So honestly, the view at the end is a 5, but I had to go with 4 for a few reasons. 1) parking- there isn't any. Mermaid's chair is inside a super exclusive neighborhood called Botany Bay where the homes are in the multi millions. There USED to be parking outside the gate but it's now closed off. Instead I... 更多
