Mount St Benedict presides serenely over the noise and bustle of Trinidad's East-West corridor. Although we did not enter or tour the Monastery the views from the top of the hill overlooking POS are fabulous in the evening as the sun goes down and the lights dark. Well worth the drive.
In the picturesque hills of the Northern Range lies this monastery. Elevation 900ft. In the area of the church is an area overlooking the surrounding towns. The view is breathtaking. You can see for miles and miles around. A visit here is a nice way to spend an evening.
Mount St. Benedict's is a wonderful place to visit or attend mass. The drive up the mountain is one where you have to hold your breath but once you get there, the view is just wonderful. There is a sense of peace that exists.
If you want to see the entire Island from one of the highest points then you need to go here. Excellent scenery of the airport, the whole central of the island and the east-west corridor (most urban part of the island). World class hiking and refreshing local eats once you get up there. Nested in the Northern Range this ancient monastery is a wonderful and quiet getaway. Also if you are a Roman Catholic you are able to converse with the many monks who live there. Mount St Benedict is a collection of buildings at the end of a steep winding road, just north of Curepe, Trinidad. It is centered around the Church/ Abbey and there is a terrific gift shop for religious and local gift items, as well as a small cafeteria for beverages, sandwiches and snack items. The monastery has been around for a long time. I grew up around there and both of my parents are from that area. Walking from the beginning of PAX gate u pass by the 12 stations of the cross.
