This museum is situated in the building that was birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. I believed that I would be touring a restored 18th century home, so I was disappointed to find one room of local artifacts and no home tour. That being said, the disparate collection was interesting to see, but don't plan on more than 15-20 minutes for your... 更多
In restored stable from grounds of Alexander Hamilton's birthplace, with historical exhibits from original Indian settlements through pirates and colonial settlement and plantations. Worth the price of admission, which includes Alexander Hamilton's birthplace house on the grounds.
The museum of Nevis History and Christina Monument is a charming and well thought out display in a compound near on the coast in Basseterre, that one can walk to from the ferry terminal. It houses artifacts from the earliest Amerindian settlers and includes items from the slavery days as well as details from the life of Nevis-born Alexander Hamilton... 更多
We stopped by the museum and learned a bit about Nevis. The displays have good write ups. Although a small museum it was good. The lady running the place was very nice and helpful. We also got to go to the Alexander Hamilton House which is next door. Worth a stop if you are on Nevis.
We did not visit the museum, but stopped in to get a walking map of Charlestown. We were sincerely welcomed by Trisha, one of the employees at the museum. We let her know that we didn't plan to visit the museum at that moment, but wanted to get a brochure for the walking tour. She immediately pulled out a brochure... 更多
this is the same location with a different name....see reviews for Alexander Hamilton museum, they are contigous buildings and displays
The small.museum offers a chronilogical island history from the original south American Indians who were driven off by the Europeans, though Nelson, Hamilton to present day, all.self guided by reading written panel displays. A bonus is for the price of admission to the museum, across the garden the Alexander House exhibit is included. Look for review of the Hamilton House.
Unfortunately, as much as we loved, loved, loved Nevis, downtown Charlestown does not have much to offer. After walking through a town with no retail and virtually no restaurants, about all you have is a museum for which you have to pay an entrance fee even though only the steps have any relation to Alexander Hamilton. Really?? No THANK YOU!!!
