This took some finding as there were no signposts from Charlestown. Don't be put off by the derelict housing estate at the end of the track - the fort ruins are just behind it right on the water's edge. A few walls and some cannon are all that is left.
The fort is quite tricky to find, but once you see the blue heritage signs just follow these to the edge of the coast.
Very disappointing to see the area so run down, overgrown and with derelict buildings.
If you wonder around you will see parts of the old fort but most of it is eroded and broken away.
