There are not a lot of beaches that we found. We saw surfers and there were beaches at the hotels, some were private, some not. Water came right up to wall embankments, so no beach.
Had a great vacation last spring. Apple Bay is a beautiful quiet beach. The ocean was nice and calm during our visit so we were able swim and snorkel the reef everyday. It is our favorite beach on the island. We Stayed at Casa Caribe so we could be right on the ocean. It was great!
When staying on this side of the island you do need a car. We rented from Big Sexy and had a wonderful experience. We even were able to get the car a day early. We were picked up and dropped off at the ferry. My husband wants to come back to Tortola and we would call Big Sexy when making... 更多
It is always wonderful to dine and stay at SugarMill. It is such an elegant place to be and the staff could not be warmer. Also fun that you can walk to Bomba Shack and meet up with lots of other tourists from around the island - locals will show up for the Full Moon parties.
We stayed in a cottage above Apple Bay and could see all the surfers out there, all day. It was beautiful! We also went to Bomba's for the full moon party (though isn't Bomba's technically on Capoon's Bay?). The area of Tortola is just gorgeous.
It was fun watching the surfers. This is not a beach to swim on and really not much beach either. Don't know that I would attend a full moon party at the Bomba shack-it looks a bit too "wild and crazy"!
This is the real Tortola, people. Away from development, close to nature and local culture. Sure, there are better swimming beaches but Apple Bay has a magic all its own. If you know where to look...the "seashell museum/breakfast cafe" is a CLASSIC!
quiet, rustic west side of tortola. serene and beautiful. local population is terrific. unlike other parts of tortola, the apple bay section of the western side of the island is quiet, calm and enjoyable. beaches are clean, maintained and look out into the best area for surfing on tortola. average 12-24" waves, enough to surf, higher with weather. hotel and... 更多
When I first got here I was told by friends that I would not need a car. Boy were they wrong. You don't need a car if you just want to stay on this side of the island which can get boring and you are unable to enjoy all Tortola has to offer. The taxi prices are crazy! Thank god... 更多
