A little difficult to navigate to but totally worth the effort. A short, but steep, hike brings you to gorgeous views of Western St. Maartin. Interesting historical information.
Very short hike to this historic site. At the top you have a 360° view of different parts of the French side of the island. If you look in the distance you can also see the island of Anguilla. The climb to the top of Fort Louis was not that difficult and was well worth the views from the top. Seeing the historic cannons and then getting a good view of the marina and the ocean . Could also see the shops and town of Marigot below. Beautiful place!
Its a bit hard to find but a visit to the Fort is worth it. Interestin from a historical point. Amazing from a sightseeing perspective. High enough up to be cool on a hot day.
During our time away from the Royal Caribbean, we rented a scooter and drove all over the island. The view atop Fort Louis is amazing! It was stunning to look out over Marigot. The history was also fascinating.
Fort Louis is well preserved as an historical site. Reading about its history and seeing the site provides a visual imagery of what took place so long ago. The climb was worthwhile. The view of Marigot and the sea are priceless.
There really isn't much left of Fort Louis. It is mostly ruins. There are signs giving information about the fort when it existed. There are also a number of cannons, though I have no idea whether they are originals from the fort. But, mostly what you go for is the views of the island and surrounding area. You get a... 更多
