This was a wonderful experience to go to church here. If you want to be with Jamaican People this is the place to go. Everyone was welcomed. A newly married couple were blessed by Fr. Jim before the service was over. We plan on going to church again when we come back. I highly recommend this experience.
Mother's Day at Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church was just as expected. Father Jim, who also does so much for the poor & malnourished school children in Negril, had given a most wonderful service which had included many children signing & playing instruments. Beautiful church.
We were there for Palm Sunday and the blessing of the palms was of palms from the yard, cool! Priest is super friendly and welcoming. Easter vigil was very short, only one and a half hours, not all the readings, no choir and no baptisms. When Mass was over we all helped haul in chairs he had borrowed from area... 更多
Incredible experience if Catholicism is in any part of your life or culture. Was looking for something real in Jamaica and any reason to get out of Beaches. From the off the singing the children the smiles the laugh the life and heart of the country. Outside are some real "characters" too. I was very lucky that it was a... 更多
This is a small Catholic church, but quite the experience. It's a real celebration. The children get up at the beginning of Mass and sing, play tambourines, and the entire congregation stands, sings, claps and joins in. The priest delivers a moving homily. He also runs a soup kitchen(s) to help take care of the people in Negril that need... 更多
We attended Mass on Sunday at 10 AM. It was a short ride from our hotel on Bloody Bay and well worth the trip. The local children sang before Mass which was wonderful. Father Jim gives an excellent homily. He even blessed us after Mass as it was our honeymoon.
We have known Father Jim Boc at Mary, Gate of Heaven church for four years. He is a noble man doing a great thing. He runs St Anthony's Soup Kitchen to feed the poor, and he runs a small General, with the merger proceeds used to get kids to school. School is free, but students need to get them selves... 更多
We went to mass at 7p.m. on Christmas eve - 2015 - very comfortable and homey church. There were about 30 people visiting, with most being Canadian, priest was well spoken and we appreciated his candor. Thank you for being so accepting. Hope the kids liked the candy canes!!
This church was across the street from Coco La Palm where we stayed. I haven't been to church in a while, but my experience in Negril was such a blessing that I had to give thanks and praise! The service was uplifting with children leading the songs of worship. It was beautiful to see nationals from all over the world... 更多
