Being a history buff, I wanted to visit the negril lighthouse, however, 2nd time and the gate was locked. The only way to see and take pictures was from the nearby Rick's Cafe
Great place to take pictures of just hang out a bit, across from Ricks Café, it free to visit as well. If your lucky there will be a local there to dive off the cliff walls for you, looks pretty scary ! Pretty far down. Beautiful blue water. Had my driver pick me up and take me here so I could take a picture and log the earthcache that is located here. The grounds are currently surrounded by gates that are locked. It's just a small lighthouse, but one of very few on the island, so a neat place to visit. I've been there a few times, catching a quick tour on one of those visits. A gentleman took us on a tour to the top, explaining its history, for a tip. Cool view.
While I was there many people were asking if the Lighthouse is still open for tours. It was up and running the day I went there with a friend. We took the 6 mile or so hike from my house up the west end all the way to the lighthouse. This is challenging walking the West End. Single file and... 更多
I have been to Negril 4 times now and this is the first time I have been to lighthouse from land. The Lighthouse itself is very interesting and although we did not get a tour, apparently tours are available. The views are great, the grounds have remnants of an old fort on them also a couple of nice cottonwood trees.... 更多
While waiting for Rick's place to open the taxi let us off at the Lighthouse. It's ok. The views are great. Too bad they charge money to go up the Lighthouse. I did not go up.
I have been a regular to Negril for the past 5 years. My last visit to the Lighthouse was September 2, 2016, only to find that it was closed down...very disappointed...
