We drove by this important part of history, however we unfortunately did not have time to stop. Our driver explained this used to be a jailhouse, there are statues of Sam Sharpe and his followers. Definitely worth the visit.
We were staying at a local resort, but had our own car, so took quite a few trips out, including one into local MoBay. The square is typically chaotic, colourful and noisy. Sam Sharpe Square . You get to see the statues. Which is nice read about the culture of them and there history . But town is always crowded and lots of pick pockets . I visited Sam Sharp Square And it was crazy ! It is not much which can be looked at within 3 min,So many people and so busy the locals just hound you they want you to buy something or asking for money ect ect. This square is located in the middle of downtown Montego Bay . If you go there... 更多
After walking the hip strip we caught a cab to Sam Sharpe Square to get a taste of local culture. We stood out amongst the locals and immediately caught the attention of some shady folk. It was rush hour and wall to wall people. Many of the merchants were perched outside their stores while others seemed to be headed somewhere.... 更多
This is a very nice shrine to a hero of the Jamaica Independence. It's worth a drive-by at least Don't let your appendages or your camera to protrude from the car - they'll be gone before you can blink. Otherwise just keep a fifty JA bill for a souvenir.
