This is a nice street to drive by, a bit lonely to walk due to heavy traffic and dark at night since there are many trees. Nice view of the caribbean sea. Very few spots to enjoy pieces of sand. A bit polluted. You need to get to the closest beach called Boca Chica if you like to swim.
The beach here is not for swimming but for a great long walk to see local people chilling with beer, wine, and pizza! There are tree along the walk, but still it is very hot. So may be you might want to buy a local wide hat before coming here.
This is the waterfront of Santo Domingo. Is very lengthy (many kms). There are some spots along the way for people to eat informal street food (would not recommend) and a couple of restaurants along the way (would only recommend one or two). Visited mostly by locals. For some reason, even though Santo Domingo is on the water and has a great deal of potential, for some reason, the city has not done a very good job keeping up the waterfront promenade called the Malecon. When in the area, my wife and I love to stroll the Malecon and enjoy the blue waters and Dominican culture. We particularly like the Monument to the Sisters, and the venues for music and cocktails nearby.
