I am not Jewish but I found both the synagogue and the museum well worth the entrance fee. The synagogue has a sand floor, which surprised me. It is made of quite a bit of mahogany too. The museum is only four rooms but it is packed with history and appropriate memorabilia -- especially given the age in which we... 更多
Fabulous Tour of the Jewish Community! Be ready to walk and bring a beverage...she stops at the cemetery and it gets pretty hot. She does NOT provide water like the other tours. She is truly a Do NOT Miss!!
If you are going into town, spend a few minutes to see some history. It is not a typical synagogue like you will see elsewhere. It was amazing to see sand as the floor of the synagogue and read why in the history. The museum has some very old artifacts that are worth seeing and will not take you hours... 更多
Had to stop in and see this historical building and museum. Beautiful original lbue glass windows and sand on the floor of the Synagogue. I am Christian and felt the reverence of this building but I imagine people of Jewish faith would truly appreciate the history
So glad we visited this centuries old building and museum. Ask why the floors are sand. They had numerous historical artifacts and items you will not see any place else.
I believe this is the oldest Synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. This Synagogue has a sand floor. Imagine praying and thinking of the beach at the same time
For those who are interested in old synagogues and history, this is a priceless stop. A real bit of history. For $10 per person, (kids under 13 free, I believe) a great look at the past. My wife and I loved it!
We had missed visiting this site the last time we were in Willemstad so on our return vacation made this a priority. It is hugely engaging and while small you should commit at least an hour to really take it all in.
The historical Jewish Museum is interesting of items of years gone by in the Jewish religion, there is not a lot to see but what there is, is of interest, if you are Jewish then these displays will have alot of meaning to you, but the displays have cards that describe what is on display. This is worth a visit... 更多
