When I lived here, there were no traffic lights but a policeman clad in Bermuda shorts and long sox would direct the traffic. It was a real icon.
This birdcage was once used to direct traffic. It remains at its original site. On Harbour nights when front street is closed off you can get in for pictures
It's neat to see that this is where a police officer directs traffic because it's so unlike any other places I've been to.
This is were the policeman will be to direct the traffic.Great view from all sides, Great idea to protect the officer from traffic.
Who couldn't LOVE the birdcage? Policemen can be seen directing traffic on occasion but I don't know their schedule.
When i came to Bermuda as a child , I remember the Birdcage ..a Policeman was always directing traffic and posing for pictures with the tourists..
I believe this is no longer used any more for directing the traffic. However it's a nice spot for a photo!
In the middle of Front Street at Queen street. In front of Goslings store. Did not walk at the end of Front street during the day so do not know if they still use it to direct traffic. At night we took photos of the grandchildren standing in it.
Don't quite see how this is an attraction, but if you've never seen one it's amusing. It did not contain an officer conducting traffic on the day we were there.
When we visited Hamilton we looked for this "cage" in the middle of the Main Street. At one time I am assuming a traffic conductor stood here and directed traffic. Not the day we were there.
