The original Protestant Church, which has been restored, was built in 1846. It was in use until 1950. In 1988 it was restored. It is now used for special events. That church is not used for Sunday services. It is in the background of the current church which has services in Dutch. It would be nice for either English bulletins... 更多
Service was in Dutch as this is one of the main languages of Aruba. We do not speak the language, but some songs were in English and one can follow the Dutch words to familiar hymns. The couple sitting next to me helped me through the service. And the minister is amazing. Welcomed pew by pew all who came. One... 更多
Took several photos from the outside, but it was locked up tight on a Friday morning despite cars in the parking lot. Would have liked to have seen the inside.

The church was gorgeous from the outside. Sadly, the gate was locked and we couldn't get in. Would have really enjoyed to have seen inside the building.

The church with its tall tower is easily seen in Oranjestad. We walked there especially to see the church hoping to go inside. Unfortunately it was locked so we never got inside, a pity as I am sure many visitors from the cruise ships would have wished to visit inside.

The place was commonly referred to as "The Church of the Bay" due to its location near the coast line. The bell tower was erected on top of the roof in 1856. The Old Protestant Church functioned until 1950 and, after the construction of... 更多
I appreciated that the minister was aware that many visitors did not speak Dutch. So he came around before the service began to speak with all visitors to explain how the service would be organized and how to follow along in scriptures. It was a lovely service. I was highly impressed with the choirs and various soloists. Not to mention... 更多
