Maybe that is an exaggeration but the beach sure feels like it. I believe there is an admittance charge. We have a senior pass so our fee was waived. When visiting you get the real feel of being on an island. Something about the isolation gives one a real feeling of serenity and solitude. This is just about one of the last places on earth where you can really get away from it all.
We drove the coast line and took in all the beautiful views of the coast line, untouched in all it's natural splendor. The gulf on one side and the Santa Rosa sound on the other.
We visited both the Fort Pickens and Opal (Santa Rosa) Beaches at the end of March. While Pensacola Beach was busy, the national seashores were virtually empty. That is just the way we like it! We camped for one night and visited Fort Pickens as well as spending sometime at the beach before heading out. It is so much more quaint than anywhere at Pensacola Beach. Loved the campsite. We were tenting, but a trailor or motorhome would have been nice too, with a paved pad. Multiple type electrical connections and water tap. No drain... 更多
