We drove from Bryce Canyon to Zion which put us on Rt 9 through Zion-Mt Carmel Highway. We were told to unhitch the tow vehicle as it made the RV and auto too long. So, my wife had to drive through the tunnels behind me. People need to be aware of this before they have to make the decision as... 更多
This is a beautiful drive, recommended to anyone who are spending time in the Zion area. The tunnel cracks me up, its treated like its a danger zone because of it "narrow" size, in most other countries this would have been just a normal good everyday comfortable short tunnel that you would drive through without giving it a second thought….in... 更多
We drove from Highway 89 , on road 9 to the East entrance of the Park and that road is even more scenic than the Scenic Drive in the Canyon . Get your camera ready as there are a lot of bizarre yet beautiful rock formations , then there are the tunnels which are fun to drive through and finally... 更多
I drove this route with a horse trailer and truck, and paid an extra $15 for the "escort fee", and didn't get escorted through the tunnel! I just had to wait for all the traffic to clear, then was told to drive up the middle of the road. $15 for that! Good thing the pass was good for 7 days,... 更多
This is a beautiful drive out of Zion - we took this route to Bryce Canyon, and once you get out of the Zion Valley, there are a few switchbacks that one needs to navigate - very tight turns uphill but very worth it - nothing to worry about, just go slower, or if you have roadster.... :-) The view... 更多
Traveling out of Zion National Park to Mt. Carmel to the East is an amazing climb through the sandstone cliffs of Zion. The colors belong in a painting. The high elevations reveal an unusual landscape. It is worth the drive to go through the amazing visual effects. Sometimes on the downside, the tunnel wait can be as long as a... 更多
at the eastern exit from the tunnel. Easy except for initial steep spot and takes less than an hour. We did this when leaving Zion enroute to Bryce. There's a parking lot on the right immediately upon exiting the tunnel or drive on a bit and park at the pullout on the left or on the road shoulder.
This a very beautiful drive through some amazing scenery that I highly recommend if you are in the area. The Zion Tunnel is probably the coolest part of this drive, but do not miss the many opportunities to pull off to the side of the road, park the car and go off the beaten path. Well worth it!
You can drive Rt.9 on your own in your own car, and it is stunning. Going very early - at sunrise- (or potentially very late) is better because traffic can be considerable during the day. There is a lot to see, even by car. There are a few turnoffs to take photos dotted along the ride, and I recommend taking... 更多
The drive was so interesting! I made a stop in some area where the mountain looked like an inclined petrified beach, with some trees on the edge and tiny little bushes hiking up. The view was so spectacular!!!! Definitely loved it !!!!
We were a bit concerned about how windy the road was because some in our group get motion sickness. But road was not so bad, some big switchbacks, but mostly just take it slow. I found most other drivers were going slow to take in views and stop along the way. There are many pull outs, places to stop and... 更多
Sedimentology paradise. Take some time, stop the car, and look around for interesting details which are witneses of the long ago past. I could spend the whole day there, wandering around and taking pictures from every corner.
When you are ready to depart the park, I'll suggest you take the Zion- Mount Carmel Highway road that climbs out to the East. Hope you don't end up behind an RV or it will be a slow drive however, the scenery is spectacular! It is not for the faint of heart as the road has many switchbacks and climbs... 更多
