If Zion National Park is at capacity, this is another way to view the park. Plus, there are a few tunnels to drive through which are spectacular. The 1.1 mile drive winds along the sandstone rocks. There are short hikes along the way, places to stop and read about the history of the highway such as "windows". Look for Hoodoos... 更多
Coming from Bryce, this is a great way to enter Zion NP. We did not find the road scary or difficult. Make sure to stop and enjoy Checkerboard Mesa. If thinking about Canyon Overlook Trail just be aware fear of heights could get in the way.
I drove this route on my way from Bryce to Zion. It's breathtaking. You literally drive down the mountain, winding your way through switchbacks. You must do this during the day to see the beautiful view. Driving this at night is treacherous as it dark and windy. You need to drive slowly, even during the day, so give yourself a... 更多
I highly recommend it as you will see some beautiful vistas along the way. There is a variety of colors shown in the mountains and cliffs. The color changes all day long as the sun hits the bluffs. More photo opportunities.
We entered and exited Zion through this highway in early morning. Highly recommended. Later in the day, this highway can be very crowded as all the reviewers pointed out that there are soooo many to see and to explore along this stunning highway.
This route will take you in or out to the East of the park, if you can find an excuse to take the highway, you should, there are some stunning views along the way. I am sure the traffic can get a little crazy because it is only 2 lane, so please use the pullouts and scenic views if you... 更多
No trip to Zion is complete without a drive along the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. This could even be the first thing after getting to the park if the shuttle through the park is longer than a one-hour wait (see shuttle review for tips about the wait). The views from this highway are not to be believed.
At any time of day its amazing, but I would recommend driving it at different times of day each time to see how the light plays out over the rocks. Just before sunset the rocks get a richer hue that is amazing.
