My mother and I had an amazing hike at Bearfence! The parking is located across the street (Skyline Drive) from the trail head. There's a mild rock scramble or a less strenuous path to get to summit; we certainly enjoyed our rock scramble and our view! This is a relatively short hike from start to finish and crosses the AT... 更多
loved the rock scrambling bits! Very short hike but great fun! Might be a little unnerving for people with vertigo issues. I do not care much for heights but did it just fine.
We had the trail and the summit to ourselves to watch the sunset. The ascent is steep from the trailhead, but the view from the top is so worth it. The sunset was SPECTACULAR!
Grab some friends or family and try this trail out! It's not too long, but there are lots of opportunities to do some mild rock climbing and the view at the top is beautiful! It's interesting to do this hike in both the winter and summer, quite a different feel, but still great either way. So give this trail a... 更多
This trail was awesome. Moderate? No. Well at least not where I am from. I had no clue what a rock scramble was. I do now. Took my GF on her first rock scramble and she loved it (until there was a copperhead in one of the rocks!) The scramble was a lot of fun, rocks that are marked with blue paint you follow to the top, once at the top you have an amazing 360 view of the park.
Great short trail! If you only have an hour for a hike, this is perfect for the in shape adventure seeker. Not a hard time, but mostly made up of rock scrambles and great views. A lot of bang for your buck so to speak.
If you like amazing 360 views, rock scrambles, a short steep trail; this is the hike for you! We may do this fun hike every time we go to the SNP from now on! Make sure your shoes grip well and the rocks will be a breeze! Up and down within an hour, too!
