Having gone back and forth to Estes Park all my life, I had no idea the Wild Basin Area existed! We hiked to Copely Falls -- a beautiful place for a picnic and just enjoyed the peacefulness of it.
We tried this area on the advice of our Venture Cycling guide, who suggested it as a reasonably easy hiking area for us flatlanders who are not used to the thin air. We decided to hike to Ouzel Falls and back and the first half of the hike, up to Ouzel, did not disappoint. The trail was well-maintained, was not... 更多
Great place for a warm-up hike for sea-level dwellers like ourselves. Beautiful area. Get there early to get a parking spot at the trailhead.
We did this hike on our rest day after having done a 5 hour hike the day before. This was the perfect easy hike for that purpose. Rivers along the path throughout the hike was a great way to keep us cool on a hot day too.
If you are looking for a great hike check this one out. We went when the weather was questionable (possible rain) but this is most likely one of the better times to go as we had a nice halfway empty hiking trail and it was nice and cool. It is a moderate hike - probably 3 miles (?) up -... 更多
PLEASE NOTE: If you park at the entrance of the parking area, you'll need to walk about 2 miles to get to the trailhead! (it was packed the day we came and added a LOT of extra walking to our plan, but we enjoyed it). Recommend coming early or after 12pm to try and get closer to the trailhead parking... 更多
I think the signs are indicating distances that are a little short. It's more like 3 miles to Ouzel Falls, not 2.7. The trail is incredibly well maintained, well signed and a really nice three hour round trip
Our family did this hike first in our 4 days there. We chose a doozy! We hiked to Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades, and Ouzel Falls. The hike was mostly shaded, along a river, with beautiful scenery. It is a challenging hike, and you gain quite a bit of elevation on the way to each spot. It felt like we were... 更多
Frequently I hear about how crowded RMNP is these days. 2.9 million people visited in 2013. That jumped to 4.2 million last year!! We're locals and I can declare that this park is crowded everywhere now. We arrived at 9am and took the last available parking space (and that was still a 1.5 mile hike just to get to the... 更多
