This is my second time doing this trail, but the first time doing with my children. They absolutely loved it. However, I recommend you start the trail no longer down about 11:00 AM. The trail has a gradual descent, and then takes you through the old volcano and lava lake. Pay the couple bucks for the little trail guide. It... 更多
The full loop takes about 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level. For a shorter and slightly easier trek to the crater floor, take the entrance down near the lava tube and explore the crater and come back up the same way. The full loop offers some better views but is a bit longer.
This trail is a moderate physically demanding one, most people should have no problem but please wear study footwear and take water or drinks. I recommend you do this counter clockwise for the best experience. The trail starts off in lush jungle and winds along the rim of the crater in a spectacular setting, flora and fauna abound, tropical birds... 更多
Follow the recommended route around the crater rim then across the crater floor. Awesome! The last bit is a fairly vertical cow trail up, but so worth it...especially for non-hikers.
This Trail is the best and most diverse trail on the island. You are within the great rainforest of the Big Island as you drop out into a vast open space that was an ancient lava lake. Walk throughout e steam vents and over huge crevasses. Also stop and listen to the song birds.
We felt we were on the moon. The trail descends easily down a tropical trail. When we reached bottom we were on a sea of grey cracked earth speckled with some shrubs and plumes of steam were rising in the distance. It's easy and probably best done in the morning after a trip through the Thurston Lava Tube across the... 更多
This hike will take a few hours to do but its not hard by any means. It starts in the jungle and then crosses an old lava lake. Very cool hike! Make sure to take water and snacks. Also at the end (or start, depending on which side you start on) make sure to check out the lava tube! You... 更多
This is my favorite hike at Volcano National Park. The rangers some times lead this hike. This is a plus. Hike takes about 3 hours has some rocks to go over at the middle of the hike. Remember to bring water. There is also an app for this hike check it out.
