By visiting this homestead....you step back in time to how a family lived up in these mountains many years ago! Can you just imagine how this would be, the total silence of no TV's, cell phones, electricity? It's really an eye opener! It's a beautiful setting and an experience that everyone needs....we all take so much for granted!
It amazes me that so many people lived in these homes. It sure shows us how far we have come from then to now. It is wonderful that we are able to get out of the car and walk around these buildings and get a little picture of the past. Don't drive by! Stop walk around and get a taste... 更多
Short, easy hike. There are several rocks and tree roots in the ground, so be careful with children, strollers, and elderly. Cabin and barn were nice. We did not take the longer trail. Worth the stop.
The Ogle families history has a stamp all over the city of Gatlinburg. The Ogles were tough tenacious people. I love learning about the families trek to that spot. And how they made it through it all. Be sure to walk behind the farm to see how they made their lIves work there.
The cabin is not large, but thoughts of spending winter inside must include visits and hobbies! The wooden walls, floors and roof will prevent the wind from blowing through. Heat is provided for all in the large center room.
This is easy walk to get to this cabin. It is located right before the roaring fork motor trail and you can turn around and head back to town without going on the motor trail once you are done. Very simple rustic old cabin that is a piece of history.
