We hit this lake due to the fact that the rest of the park was on fire at the time. This is an out of the way lake with road access, though that "road access" is open to interpirtation. The road is narrow, rutted, and at this time of the year heavily travelled which is a problem as the road... 更多
Great for hiking or riding your personal horse. Hitch racks and loading ramps in the area. Great for over night camping. I also worked in Glacier from 1969 to 1980 and again 2011 and 2012
Beautiful clear lake with amazing mountains surrounding it. Very narrow dirt road, so best to be in proper vehicle, regular cars can make it, just go speed limit. Road takes you thru forest, keep eyes open for wildlife. Nice trails to explore, dogs are not allowed on trail so keep in mind. Campground was pretty large, looked like a nice... 更多
A GREAT lake. . just watch out for the bozo drivers exceeding the 25 mph speed limit. .and some curves need to be driven at 5 mph for visibility. If you do not like dirt, dust, and crappy drivers coming at you stay home.
The adventure of getting there was something, dirt roads and washboards and it seemed like forever but it is certainly worth it when you see the beauty
The very rough, unsealed road requires slow driving but our Kia Soul (!) handled it just fine. We surprised a huge grizzly beside the road on the way in; one is hanging out near the campgrounds here. Picnic facilities are not by the lake but a short walk. Great spot for wildlife viewing and canoeing or kayaking.
I have to agree with many others on the road. I was in the back seat and found it a little unnerving. Then we got to the lake!!! Crystal clear water, the sky - a beautiful shade of blue that reflected on the lake left us in awe. If you have the right vehicle ~ it's a must if you're... 更多
Long bumpy ride to get there, but sooo worth it. (Don't recommend this trip for small or low riding cars. These dirt roads are rough). The mountains and clouds were reflecting on the lake. Crystal clear water. Perfect! The fact that it takes a little extra work to get there keeps the visitors down. So you can relax and enjoy... 更多
This was the highlight of my 4 days in Glacier National Park. This is way better than Lake McDonald - no comparison. Be warned - the drive is on a good paved road, then a good dirt road, then a very narrow (well maintained, bumpy, sometimes muddy) dirt road. I thoroughly enjoyed the drive to the Lake. Plan on taking... 更多
We visited Bowman Lake since the Going-to-the-Sun road wasn't passable due to weather/snow. The mountains were covered in cloud, but the lake was still beautiful. The short easy hike (0.7 mi) along the trail to the left of the lake was lovely but a bit uninteresting -- with few openings to view the lake. Regardless, gorgeous place to visit. Definitely... 更多
