What a spectacular drive with outstanding views all along the way! The rim road is a challenging drive and not for the faint at heart. My best description of that drive is that it's like balancing your vehicle on the rim of a teacup. Beautiful but a little nerve-racking. It's worth every minute!
If you are in this area of the country, this is a must see attraction. It can be a harrowing drive so make sure to do it clockwise. Also, stop at all the stops and take time to drive out to see the pinnacles as well.
When you arrive at the park, you must take the rim drive. We came in the northern entrance. At the road junction at Merriam Point turn left and follow Rim Dr. It is about a 30-mile drive around the rim of the lake affording stunning views of different landmarks and of the lake itself.
