I did this hike walking straight out of Fruita Campground. It was July so it got pretty hot. But I had plenty of water with me (100 oz hydro pack). Loved the ever changing scenery throughout this hike.
This is a superb walk which you start from the car park near the homestead. It climbs quickly and then flattens out as you walk through the canyon. Supposedly where Mormon polygamists hid in the past from persecution it's stunningly attractive. Part way along you can climb more to a couple of viewpoints- the turnoff is signed on the left... 更多
Starting from the barn a few hundred yards down the road from Gifford House, the trail starts with a steep climb for 0.3 miles, then evens out and goes relatively downhill for another 1.4 miles. At the end, I crossed the street and joined up with the Hickman Bridge trail (to see a natural arch). I returned by the same... 更多
We started from Fruita, near the camping ground, and it's true the first hundred meters are pretty steep, but once you get into the canyon, then it gets very easy, and it's one of the best hikes in the area. Don't miss the lookouts, it's fabulous. The view is absolutely fantastic.
Since I am not able to walk much we drove all through the Canyon. The views are stunning and should not be missed. Depending on the time of day and weather you will be in awe the entire time.
Cohab Canyon and its formations are so varied and complex, you can spend hours there taking it all in, exploring the side canyons, climbing rocks, marveling at the nature. We were not very conditioned for hiking and found the trail up from Fruita to be no problem at all -- reviews make it out to be much more difficult than... 更多
I didn't have time to walk the entire trail, but that ended up a blessing. I wandered up a side canyon close to Hwy 24 and started climbing (easy climb for me, but maybe not for little legs). So after a while I started looking at the canyon floor, at the rocks. The different colored sedimentary rocks are ok enough,... 更多
This is a great trail for those with children and those who want an easier hike. We have hiked this many times and enjoyed the beautiful canyon each time. Warning, the south entrance to the trail is steep, but worth the effort!
My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children - 11, 9, & 7) loved the Cohab Canyon trail. It was recommended by a ranger in the visitor center. The trail begins with some switchbacks and then levels off in the canyon. The canyon had plenty of tame thrills - climbing on rocks, exploring slot canyons. We spent a lot of... 更多
This hike starts out with a BANG. You hike straight up. Bring poles and wear hiking shoes NOT tennis shoes as on the way back you will be slipping and sliding. This is not for the faint of heart. This is a strenuous hike. Start early - 6:30 a.m. - take water, sunscreen and snacks. Great hike but strenuous.
