All along this trip, all I have done is use my imagination to put every living thing on a mountain with its forms and shapes. This one is called a Whale rock but to me, it looks like a big hoagie or French bread. But oh well? Be careful if you climb to the top, it is often windy. Climb... 更多
It was quite windy when we were here, but it was still super fun to hike up to the summit of this strange slickrock dome sitting on top of a mesa.
This was really cool! My daughter saw people on the whales back and wanted to go, so we did. We weren't planning on doing this hike, but we're glad we did. It looks hard when you're starting out, but it wasn't bad at all, and the view from the top is stunning. It was the highlight of my daughters day!
This hike is basically up a geological fin. It is shaped like a whale and is a hit with kids. It's tricky in places to hike but well worth the effort.

If you have all day at the Island then The Whale is worth you time. It's not a marquee attraction, with fewer people and a small parking lot, so you'll get a short hike and great views with some peace and quiet. As others have noted, some folks may be challenged by a few short sections of steep slick rock.
