These are very cute creatures ... scurrying in and out of their holes, always vigilant to what's going on around them ... take your binoculars so you can view them from the safety and comfort of your car ... they carry the plague, so you don't want to get too close!
Watch for cars that come to an abrupt stop, so that a passenger can snap a photo of these creatures. There is not a designated parking spot; therefore, you have cars on the shoulder of these narrow roads. But the Prairie Dogs are interesting and enjoyable to watch their playful behavior.
We've visited the Badlands several times but it never gets old. Driving through the park gives one a view of the most interesting rock formations anywhere. The visitor's center is a place to find a number of good books and gift items. We also got a good view of wildlife throughout the park.

Just take your camera and aim at a hole, and pretty soon one will pop up. We got some great photos here. Lots... 更多
We didn't need to go to Prairie Dog Town to see the little critters. I started to notice little mounds in areas where the grass was sparse along the Loop Road. But since we traveled down Sage Creek Rim Road, we saw plenty of prairie dogs close to the road. And a bonus! A bison was grazing nearby. Too cool!
