The guide that we had was knowledgeable about the park the trails and the local history. Horses were all well kept and truly cared for.. I try to get to the island at least every other year and still take the tour every time.. Highly recommended !!
You can go for a horse-drawn carriage ride or tour from end of May through mid-October with prices for adults ranging from $20 to $36. No horse trail rides, but you can bring your own horse & stable it at Wildwood Stables.
Loved every part of Bar Harbor area and Acadia National Park except this group. The actual carriage rides may be great, but I never got to find out. Staff did not appear to want to accommodate us or offer us advice on setting up a ride. Basically staff said sorry we are booked. While at the same time another employee... 更多
We took a carriage ride here as park of a cruise ship excursion. You ride in a long carriage drawn by two large draft horses along park trails made over 29 years by a member of the Vanderbilt family. The trails keep your exposure to car traffic to a minimum, but does share space with joggers and bike riders. For... 更多
My wife and I took the 1-hour carriage ride on a misty morning. The rain stopped and the sun actually came out during the ride. The route follows the horse trails built by the Rockefellers on the island. Our guide was a former Maine Attorney General and proved very knowledgeable of the history of the island. We can heartily recommend... 更多
These carriage rides through the national park on gravel carriage roads built by the Rockefellers between 1913 and the 60s (before they donated the land for a park and closed to cars) are a "must do" on Mt Desert Island. They run for 5 months a year and when we rang a few weeks before the end of the season... 更多
We had the misfortune of having a rainy day for our one-hour carriage ride, but the rain didn't spoil the experience at all. In a world focused on electronics, speed, and loud hype, it was a great change of pace to slow down for an hour and take a quiet ride through the park on an open wagon that can... 更多
The office is usually busy, so keep calling to make your reservation. Tour guide was excellent. I feel the carriage roads in Acadia are best experienced by the carriage ride.
Went on the bridge tour. nice, low key ride through shaded woods. Our guide, Morgan, was great. We had signed up for the Day Summit Tour but were called last month saying it had been cancelled so we took the bridge tour -- as said, very low key. Summit would have been better. Also, the carriage had three passenger benches... 更多
We took a morning ride of Rockefeller's bridges. It was a very enjoyable ride. The guide was very informative and we learnt quite a bit about the park that we did not know even after many trips.
