One of Silay's landmark is this ancestral house that gave me a glimpse of what life was in the later part of the 19th Century among the elite...a two storey house with plenty of bedrooms, a big receiving area and dining room, a collection of old books and ternos (native gowns) and an art gallery at the back.....for lovers of... 更多
Silay is my fathers home town, in earlier time it was called Paris of negros..today, a number of ancestral houses can be seen still standing around the city, some are still a home for wealthy people of the city. Others were converted into commercial places, others were abandoned and left to fall apart and a few were converted into museums.... 更多
When in Negros Occidental (Bacolod), don't fail to drop by to one of the heritage site of the Negros located at Silay. The house is already 109 years old quite creepy but preserved it's story and history. I will definitely recommend this place when yu visit Bacolod.
Paris of the Philippines . CHeck it out since you will find a lot of interesting toys and historical stories inside Balay Negrense, mr. ramon Hofelina the person behind , told us that we can find the smallest doll in Balay Negrense , No cameras yet when we went there so we were not abel to take a photo of... 更多
I fell in love with Silay City. I love its old charm, food and friendly people. If not pressured with time, we could have stayed here for a night or more. This heritage home is our first stop and I instantly fell inlove with it. Though this is just a restoration, still I learned a lot on how life is... 更多
Silay City offers a lot of Heritage Houses, one of which is the Balay Negrense Museum. As you pay the entrance fee of 65php and get in, you can immediately see the antique furniture and items way back from the Spanish era. A tour guide will also accompany you to the many rooms and explain things in detail.
The museum was a fitting venue for the annual Tripadvisor Philippines meet-up. The house was more attractive when fully lit up at night. Being a native of Silay, I've been here a number of time before. It's a window to the opulent and decadent lifestyle of the Negrense back when sugar barons ruled the land. I hope other ancestral homes... 更多
We were accompanied by a friend to this ancestral house in Silay City. Actually, our first stop in this city north of Bacolod City. We were surprised how the house was preserved. While it is undergoing a repainting when we visited, still one can see the soul of the house. Our guide is also very helpful to acquaint us with... 更多
